Should have happened after Drury and Briere left. I never thought the likes of Pommer, and Vanek were leaders. Good players yes. |

it kills you to have Keven closer to the top left corner, doesn't it? |

Since we're in full rebuild mode now.....do we still buyout Leino or try to find a taker for him? |

darcy said we would compete for the cup for years to come within 5 years of briere and drury leaving
starting to sound like a leaf saga of the last 15 years |

nothing wrong with leino
now that pommer is gone, he may be our best 2 way winger
keep him on second line and second team pp
60 points would come in a healthy full season |

the guys from TSN disagree....Said he is an obvious buy out and we paied way to much for a guy who ha sonl yhad one good year.
They have some points, IMO. |

They are right but I did like what I saw from Leino in the small amount of games he played this year. Can we actually buy out him and get rid of another roster player? Plus chances are stafford gets traded as well. We would have to do a lot of signing/trading for roster guys. |

What are the chances he stays healthy though?
I don't think he'll be bought out this offseason, but prob after next so we can get some additional cap space

I would be worried about the message it would send to potential free agents. When Ted Black made that "Hockey Heaven" comment, the first three players they signed were Regehr, Leino, and Ehrhoff. Not sure it would be a good idea to have two of those three no longer on the team. |

TSN had Ek on for their trade deadline show a few years ago
hence I stopped reading (reiding) there |

Well, he was used completely wrong last year for the majority of the season. And he's barely played this year due to his wonky hip. Now he's got some other "undisclosed injury."
The injury part is what irritates me. He does have 6 points in 8 games this year though. |

I would buy him out. Even healthy he really isn't that good, I would rather see them give his roster spot to one of the kids. |

If he cant stay healthy he is useless. WHich seems to be that way. Same with Vanek. I am all for buying him out. |

Buy Leino out and you're flirting with the floor (coupled with the trades of 26/30/24/29/losing 55 and 27).
By my math without Leo, Regehr, Pommer, Hecht, and Pardy we save nearly 16 mill. |
